Cheer 2008.

12th and 13th July 2008, one of the memorable dates which I will not forget. It was my first, and also, my last time joining the Nationals for the cheerleading competition. Joined two weeks before the competition and it was not an easy thing to cope with the stress - everyone knew the whole routine except me. Staying back till 6.30 and even till 9 two days before the competition was tiring. That explains why I couldn't be bothered to update my blog. :)

Dealing with all the unnecessary problems, we still managed to stay as one. Though I must admit, at one point, I was this close to giving up on Friday itself because I know, there are many other people who are better than me when it comes to cheer. Anyway, I am indeed, thankful, to still be in the team and I would like to apologise to the captain, Rachel, for all the troubles. Not only that, I must salute Wei Lin for being able to catch up with the routine in less than 24 hours time. ;)

Practised from 8 till 5 pm on Friday before leaving for Palace of the Golden Horses [contributed by Rach]. Stayed there because it's nearer to BJ stadium. While waiting for our turns to have our hair curled, all of us ate mashed potatoes, coleslaws, buns and sandwiches for dinner. Rachel and my mom bought food for us. Went somewhere to practise for a while before bedtime.

Woke up at 5ish the next morning for the make-up session and reached BJ at 7 to get used to the mats. The event didn't start till it's almost 10. Shirtliff was the first team to perform and we were all nervous but at least, we managed to perform well and there were no falls. Other teams were good and the competition was tough. Many have improved and a few newcomers performed better than expected.

Ate Ayamas rice for lunch. It's F.O.C. babeh! x] Cik Sri Devi can dance! But only those who were there will know how good she is in that. I've got the video but teehee, I'm not posting it up here. ;p Went back to Palace after the event and practised till 8ish. We had buns which Jasmine's mom had bought for us.

Later, the whole team went to the Carousel Cafe for dinner but because I was feeling pretty sick, ended up eating only one sandwich and gave the other to Wei Lin. She gave me some of her rice! Mind you, I need rice to survive okay. ;p Oh, and the dinner was sponsored by school. x]

Back to the suite later on, fell asleep on the bed while waiting for my turn to use the bathroom. Mom came to bring some of my things back and helped me curl my hair again because it was not so curly anymore. Fell asleep again after taking my bath and for the rest of the night, I didn't sleep well at all because of the stupid cough. -_____-

Next morning, we reached at around 7.30 am and this time, we watched all the teams before it was our turn to perform. Shirtliff was last to perform by the way. Many came after break time and I saw Ying, the twins, Bev, Nethiya, Shin Ee, Seet Kin and almost the whole SS gang there! ;D Hugged the girls and my VI friends came to support me and Shirtliff! *smiles proudly* ;p Met up with them straight after our performance.

After a while, Siow Ee texted me and asked if I was in the team. I replied and we met up at the main entrance. Took pictures with Chooi Yean, Siow Ee and Pui Yan! Oh wait, this is Yong Pui Yan, NOT Chang Pui Yan. Because the one with the surname Chang didn't go, therefore, no pictures with her. Pfft. They were my Sushi King colleagues by the way. Missed them a lot, seriously. :)

They made that for me. Those are Kasturi's notes by the way. xD Oh and they actually said, "PY, PY We Love You!" and "Shirtliff Shirtliff We Love You!" when it was almost our turn to perform. I am honestly, very, extremely, touched with that. :)

After Santwon's performance, it was time to announce the results. The results are as followed :-

Best Make-Up ; Titans.
Merit Award ; Shirtliff. ( First team that had zero deduction of marks )
Teacher of the Year Award ; Miss Judy.
Fifth ; Xavier.
Fourth ; Titans.
Third ; Stunner All Boys.
Second ; Dynamitez.
Champion ; Shirtliff.

Shirtliff 08 is the FIRST team to get 3 awards after 9 years of competitions! Shirtliff is also the champions for 5 times out of 9 competitions! :)

p.s. To those who came and gave me support be it friends or family, I am here to say thank you for all the support you've given to me which I needed most at that point of time. To those whom I didn't get to take pictures with, I'm truly sorry but hey, you guys are just as important as the others! You know who you are. ;) Lastly, I love every single one of you. :)
